With today’s ruling in Louisiana v. Callais, the S With today’s ruling in Louisiana v. Callais, the Supreme Court has disgracefully gutted Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965This decision strikes at the heart of our multiracial democracy and is a direct attack on every citizen's right to have an equal and effective voice in our democracy. This is a Louisiana case, not only tells the Black people in Louisiana that being one third of the population won’t mean they have one-third of the opportunity to elect leaders who will respond to their needs and demands, it tells partisan politicians that they can discriminate if they call it partisan. Every state is now free to draw maps that attempt to silence the political power of Black voters. When voters of color are denied fair representation, communities suffer, whether it’s health care, fair wages or funds for schools. Today’s decision is a profound attack on our voting rights. But this is not over! We will not and cannot give up the fight. We did not begin this fight with Callais, and we will not end it here. We will continue to push forward, protect every vote, and work toward building a truly representative democracy where every voice counts.
The Department of Justice is demanding Wayne Count The Department of Justice is demanding Wayne County, Michigan’s 2024 ballots, using false claims about election fraud to interfere in state elections. This is another escalation in the Trump administration’s efforts to take power, not win it. Every voter's right to cast a ballot and have it counted must be respected and secure. link in bio
We have watched this administration starve childre We have watched this administration starve children in detention centers, tear parents away from their kids, and punish families for pursuing the American Dream. This Earth Day, the data is clear: environmental h This Earth Day, the data is clear: environmental harm is not equally shared. Communities of color are three times more likely than white communities to live in areas stripped of parks, wetlands, trees, and clean air. This is environmental racism. Access to a healthy, livable environment is not a luxury. It is a fundamental right.
We stand with @splcenter Civil rights advocates t We stand with @splcenter Civil rights advocates train poll workers, run food banks, fight discrimination, protect the right to protest, and staff domestic violence hotlines. We are the ones who make sure that everyone can live, love, vote, work, study, travel, and simply be themselves, free from discrimination. This administration views our movement as a threat to its power. But we will not be intimidated, and we will not be silenced.

The White House’s new AI framework is a free pass The White House’s new AI framework is a free pass to tech companies. It’s the latest step in a decades-long effort to dismantle our democratic infrastructure. AI harms are all too real for communities across the nation, and Congressional leaders must pass a comprehensive federal AI standard that includes civil rights protections that ensure we all reap the benefits of AI.

Spread the word

Did you know that millions of Americans can’t access the democratic process because of solvable problems in how elections are run? These problems aren’t felt equally across communities – voters of color are 6x more likely than White voters to wait longer than an hour to vote, even in the same town. Spread the word to help defeat barriers to the ballot box.
