On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratifie On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified — a major milestone in the fight for women’s voting rights. Yet many women, particularly women of color, continued to face barriers to the ballot. By 1965, the Voting Rights Act secured rights for voters of color. Now, in 2026, those same voters — women and voters of color — face new attacks that threaten it all. The fight hasn't stopped, and neither will we. We must stop the SAVE Act and its assault on our right to vote.
For 25 years, Olmstead v. L.C. has given people wi For 25 years, Olmstead v. L.C. has given people with disabilities the right to live in community instead of in an institution. In June, the DOJ put legal protections for 40 million adults like Jennifer and 5 million children with disabilities at risk. Disability rights protect the right to live with dignity. We're calling on the DOJ to reverse course.
We're a proud partner of the March on Washington. We're a proud partner of the March on Washington. On August 28, we march at the Lincoln Memorial for voting rights, economic dignity, and a future families can afford. March with us. Register at the link in our bio.
Michael, Heather, and Khalid should all be alive t Michael, Heather, and Khalid should all be alive today. We remain committed to the work of dismantling white supremacy in every form it takes and to building a country where safety isn't conditional on who you are. It is our duty to confront the racism embedded in our institutions and every act of violence rooted in hate.
“If I’m not doing anything wrong, then why am I wo “If I’m not doing anything wrong, then why am I worried about it?” What happened to Denver resident Chrisanna Elser was a warning: Surveillance technology without accountability can implicate anyone. When police showed up at her door accusing her of theft, they pointed to Flock camera footage that had simply recorded her truck driving her route to work. She was innocent. Mass surveillance is not the price of safety. We need technology rooted in community trust, not suspicion.
ICE detention doesn't require a conviction, or eve ICE detention doesn't require a conviction, or even a criminal charge. Our legal system is built on the presumption of innocence — but by collecting DNA and filing it in a federal database, ICE recklessly disregards our rights. No trial, no verdict, no due process. It treats a person's mere presence in detention as grounds to enroll them in a permanent surveillance system. We can’t let ICE treat immigrants as guilty by default, or use that assumption to justify a massive expansion of surveillance.
Today, in a shameful vote, the Senate confirmed To Today, in a shameful vote, the Senate confirmed Todd Blanche as Attorney General. The Attorney General is supposed to answer to the Constitution, protect our rights, and be independent of whoever holds the presidency. Today's vote said that independence is negotiable. We don't accept that as the new standard for the Department of Justice, and we're not done holding this administration accountable. Let’s get to work.
Yesterday, President Trump signed two new executiv Yesterday, President Trump signed two new executive orders attempting to narrow birthright citizenship — just weeks after the Supreme Court rejected his first attempt to rewrite the Constitution. We will not accept this. This is another effort by President Trump to double down on taking away our civil rights and distract from a bad jobs report, high gas prices thanks to a seemingly endless war, and the next round of cuts to health care for Americans. Birthright citizenship isn't up for reinterpretation every few months. It's for everyone born here and guaranteed by the 14th Amendment. We'll fight to keep it that way.
The Trump administration's abuse of power is no se The Trump administration's abuse of power is no secret. Our president and CEO @maya4civilrights tells it like it is: "The intimidation is the point."
In the past weeks, ICE has killed two people durin In the past weeks, ICE has killed two people during routine traffic stops across the country — Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Maine, neither of whom were the target of the operation. These aren't isolated incidents. They're the horrific and predictable result of an agency operating with no body cameras, no consistent oversight, no meaningful accountability. An Attorney General who lets this pattern continue unchecked isn't protecting the public. He's protecting the agency. Senators, reject his confirmation. #BlockBlanche
As attacks on our freedom to vote continue, we hon As attacks on our freedom to vote continue, we honor the legacy of the civil rights movement by doing what generations before us did: showing up, speaking out, and organizing for a democracy where every eligible voter can make their voice heard. The fight for our vote didn’t end in 1965 — and neither does our responsibility to protect it.
Kinda chic to care. Kinda chic to care.

Spread the word

Did you know that millions of Americans can’t access the democratic process because of solvable problems in how elections are run? These problems aren’t felt equally across communities – voters of color are 6x more likely than White voters to wait longer than an hour to vote, even in the same town. Spread the word to help defeat barriers to the ballot box.
